I'm Bec Forde - me & my shadow say, "hi".
I've been moving my whole life but didn't discover Pilates until I was in my 30's. The older I get the more I know how important it is to find something you love and keep on moving and grooving.
Hmmm, what else to share? How bout a few random-ish deets:
I’ve had many names in my life: Rebecca, Rabs, Becca Joe, Schmacaroni, and even Rebecca Mary Sue Pat. After living in Australia, land of abbreviations, for over a decade, I've finally shortened it to just Bec.
I was lucky (and stubborn) enough to have a professional dance career but the combo of injuries and age caused me to switch up and train as a Pilates teacher in 2001. I’ve taught in many different situations including studios, primary schools, corporate settings, and gyms, and since 2008 have run my home-based studio, Dragonfly Pilates & Movement.
Like everyone in 2020 my life went topsy turvy but I also added a move to a rural property. Out of necessity my virtual studio was born but I didn't know how much fun I'd have teaching people all over Australia and the world!
Now my new shed conversion, bricks & mortar studio is open for business where I not only teach Pilates but have room to offer Aerial Hammock Fitness classes as well as host retreats. Yeehaw!
Yep, I do live on a beautiful property with dairy cows on one side and beef cattle on the other. I take many, many, photos of the sunrise from my verandah, and am learning a thing or two about country living.
I love my hubby, kiddo, family, and pets, popcorn, jigsaw puzzles (from way before Covid), and buying jewellery to remember my travels.
Some weird facts: I graduated from high school twice (a week apart in two different states), have three passports, and the one time I actually counted, had 49 pairs of workout tights.
I’m a true Gemini who is either very performative or the best, most awkward wallflower ever.
Oh, and I love teaching Pilates (& movement).
Drop me a line!
